Düsseldorf, Germany -- Henkel Adhesive Technologies and KraussMaffei have been working together for several years. The companies are demonstrating the collaboration at this year’s K, the worldwide leading plastics exhibition, from October 19 – 26 in Düsseldorf. Henkel is at the KaussMaffei booth showing various assembly solutions for new lightweight materials from its broad materials portfolio.

In the automobile industry in particular, the call for high performance continuous fiber-reinforced composites in integrated structural assemblies is increasing. Therefore, Henkel Adhesive Technologies offers manufacturers and suppliers fast-curing and reliable adhesives and matrix resins.

Adhesive to Bond Fiber Reinforced Plastics

During the show, Henkel turns the spotlight on an adhesive that is used to join a carbon fiber reinforced composite roof to a frame carrier made of thermoplastic. The adhesive, Loctite EA 9065, provides the high shear strength required for structural elements and bonds effectively to many different substrates, including steel and aluminum, as well as fiber reinforced plastics or thermoplastic composites based on polyamides.

“With Henkel offering high performance adhesives, we have the right partner for the integration of different composite substrates like thermoplastic and thermosets,” explains Erich Fries, Head of the Composites/Surfaces business unit at KraussMaffei.
